Reviews of Tamed from Miley Cyrus

Here are what some of the critics are saying about “Can’t be Tamed” from Miley Cyrus, what do YOU think? Comment below!
- “Tamed” has little interest in deft little lighter ballads, nor in any real expression of Cyrus’s personality. Cyrus has always seemed real-ish, as if underneath the sparkly headbands she was really a cranky 40-year-old cocktail waitress who smoked. But “Tamed” doesn’t take advantage of her vinegary personality, dividing itself between disposable, tinny dance pop tracks and generically sweeping, echo-y ballads.” [Allison Stewart, Washington Post]
- “Make no mistake: The new Miley is no longer the girl next door, but instead a sexy party animal, all part of a familiar grand plan in which a pop culture prince or princess undergoes a public pupa-shedding of the innocent cocoon of youth and emerges as a free-flying, sexy rock ‘n’ roll pop tart.” [Shelley Fralic, Vancouver Sun]
- “The trouble is, as Britney Spears so memorably framed the situation back in own her multiplatinum youth, Miley’s not a girl, not yet a woman, and she seems a little stumped as to the best way one might bump and grind her way through the transition years in public. She actually raps on the opening track, having outed herself as a Jay-Z girl on “Party in the U.S.A.,” but that seems ill-advised (despite some righteous digs at being Disney’s hottest-selling puppet since Pinocchio). Her Ke$ha imitation couldn’t be more spot-on (the infectious “Permanent December”). But a Ke$ha imitation? Really?” [Ed Masley, Arizona Republic]
